We were celebrating a special family day yesterday and went to the Skylounge for dinner but were incredibly disappointed with the restaurant and staff. First, it was hard to believe that a bar didn't have a cocktail menu. Secondly, when we went out to watch a plane take off, the door to the patio had a sharp screw protruding from the push bar that snagged my sweater and scratched my arm. When I mentioned it to a staff member, she just said "Yaaa." I told her that I didn't think that was an acceptable response but she just walked away from me. Lastly, the appetizer came with the dinner and the order for my son's corndog with fruit came to the table wrong - 2 times! How do you screw that up twice? The food was good but everything else left us feeling that the whole experience was horrible. So sad...

Couldn't have had a better dining experience. Fast, friendly service, and great chicken strips.

Stopped for a Bloody Mary fantastic great service love it and the people

Love going out to the airport. The Sky Lounge has a huge patio right on the runway (although it can be very loud outside because of the airplanes) and the service is prompt and always friendly. Although not very formal, everyone wears jeans and tennis shoes, the bartender greets you when you walk in and makes everyone feel at home. I went for lunch yesterday and had a tuna melt, which came with a big side salad, and an Arnold Palmer. Grandma has a big spinach salad and a lemonade. Total for two lunches for $30 plus tip. Not cheap but the quality of the food warrants the price. This place is a good example of waiting a few months before trying a new restaurant. The first month they were opened, the food was not that great. Seems like they have really stepped it up because lunch was awesome.

First off I want to be fair, I gave this place plenty of chances.....This was not my first bad experience here! When this restaurant first opened around 30 years ago it was GREAT! Bu,t sadly as the years have gone on this place has gone down hill. The service is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! These girls waiting on customers are more into hair flipping and watching themselves walk by in the glass reflection. "HEY SWEETHEART I'm a customer sitting here for 20 minutes and would rather you focus on me other than yourself". gezzzzzz The food is suppose to be grilled, but instead the cook must forget the bread as it's ALWAYS stripped in BLACK CHARCOLE STRIPES! (look at their photo of the French Dip). I rest my case. I ordered the breakfast sandwich served on a croissant. The whole sandwich's flavor was ruined by the black grill marks which completely over took the sandwich's flavor. It taste burnt, which was too bad as I think the sandwich would otherwise been very tasty. The other downfall is it takes too friggin' long to get your food!!!!!!! If a person needs to catch a flight out in 40 minutes you'd figure there's be enough time for a little bite to eat. Not here!!!! Better off eating at SFO or Oakland Airport. Another thing I frown on is when I made mention to the waitress that our flight leaves in 20 minutes and STILL NO FOOD! She acted snotty by replying as she turned and walked away from our table... " You have plenty of time your plane isn't even here yet". Ahhh Yeah Sweetie...But our food isn't here EITHER!!!!

I sat at the bar and got immediate service. When I mentioned my friend was going to be joining and I wanted to buy the drinks, the bartender helped make that happen at the protest of my friend. Since the weather was beautiful we sat outside talking and drinking. I guess I didn't notice that we sat there for a long while before a server came over..... we were enjoying the visit and didn't really want to be interrupted. We got the tuna melt with fries and veggie sandwich with cole slaw. Both were very good, although pricey. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat lunch there but if i were waiting at the airport, I would. I was happily surprised that there was FREE PARKING!! at the airport.

Breakfast sandwich was cooked a little too toasty but was otherwise great. Didnt like the potatos cooked with so much onion and red bells. Hot cocoa was good! Sat in the only window seat which had a huge bush so you cant see incoming planes. Arnt the planes the whole draw? Ugh.
(2)David K.
Had a hamburger while waiting for a plane. Except for the meat being VERY salty, we enjoyed the lunch.
(2)Dre C.
Came here for happy hour. One of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. Awesome mac-n-cheese with bacon and onion rings. Fabulous burger with all local ingredients. Great service too. Will definitely be back! Especially for sunny days on the giant patio!
(5)Ilene M.
4 years later I tried this again with my co-workers. One wait staff seemed to be waiting on the whole place, so service was slow (though it appeared there was someone with a logo shirt on sitting at the bar the whole time we were there). We went before the lunch hour thinking we didn't want to get caught in the lunch "rush." Still took an hour and half to order, receive our food and find someone to take my payment. Food was good but the presentation was weird. All of our selections looked like they were thrown on the plain white plate.
(3)Ashley M.
I used to love to come here to watch the planes and have some beers. The prices are a little much for the quality of food you get but they are catering to travelers who may never eat there again and they can charge whatever because there is nothing else around. I get that....However the last time I went there it was just REALLY bad service. Drrr....not that great of food, expensive prices and slow! Like I said used to come out to have a drink and some apps, probably not so much anymore.
(3)Jackie B.
I used to really like this place. I came back though recently and unfortunately had not so good of an experience. The food was sub par (we ordered the Sushi, which I used to really enjoy from there) and some appetizers, and our waitress was not so great either. She forgot items we ordered, and when asking for drink refills, we didn't get them until LONG after we had finished our dinner. (We ordered while we were eating). So as Yelp says ("Meh, I've experienced better") . Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be coming back. :(

9/15/13 I have to add that the Grass Fed Burger is GREAT!!! The Cesar salad is good. We ordered it with extra anchovies, no problem. Waitress is very nice. Manhattans excellent. The pulled pork sandwich is very good, but personally I not a fan of the white bread buns. My partner had the portabella sandwich, which he states is excellent. If you are looking for casual and inexpensive, but really good, this is the place.
(5)Darryl H.
Great place to hang out and watch the sunset and watch the planes fly in and out. Like someone else said, i was befriended by the owner as i sat there and drank a (complimentary) Diet Coke. it was a nice place to be
(4)Lauren M.
I had sunrise roll..the sushi rice was dry, the fish not fresh and tiny pieces..my husband had chicken piccata and creamy tomato soup..the chicken was dry, the sauce clearly from a can, and the vegetables clearly frozen, Where's Robert from Restaurant Impossible when you need him??
(1)Stephanie C.
My first time here, the owner befriended me and I have been coming back ever since for the amazing views of the planes and the excellent food. The only complaint I have is about the service time-- there are consistently long waiting periods for food or for the check. I don't mind because the setting is so fun, but this isn't ideal if you are visiting on your lunch break or in any kind of a hurry. The menu caters to different tastes, but my special requests have always been accommodated in regards to substitutions and things like that. A definite fun place to bring out of towners, especially when the weather is nice-- the patio is a great place to sit, have a cold beer (or two), and watch the planes take off.

Flashback: Seven year old Johnny loves his mom who has the flu and is in bed on a Saturday afternoon. He asks if she's hungry; she says "I think I could keep something down", so Johnny goes to the kitchen of their low-income, sparsely furnished 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment, and opens a can of corn, pours it in a bowl and serves it to her. She is so touched by his gesture, she proclaims "this is the best meal I've ever eaten! What a GREAT chef you are!" Roll forward to present day: I call Sky Lounge ... "do you have any tables available tonight?" ... the guy answering says, rather incredulously "... uh, yeah ...." (almost pitying my question) We arrive, expecting something above breadline caliber, and are embarrassingly disappointed. The place is obviously run by different folk now. And folk they are. Now cafeteria style with plastic condiment bottles on the tables and a bar lined with drunk pilots blurting out "fuck" in every other sentence, at the top of their voice. We sat down at a table. I unrolled my PAPER napkin and out falls a junior size camp fork and a huge serrated knife. Larry unrolled his napkin and out rolled a huge fork and butter knife. We look at one another ... 'uh oh'. We order our food ... tempura sushi roll, calamari and lettuce cups for me and hot wings and chicken picatta for Larry ... drum-roll ... the food comes out. Sushi roll pieces are only covered with rice, not rolled in it and the bite sizes are HUGE! HUGE. The thing falls apart at each handling. The calamari is standard deep fried fare, no tartar. The lettuce cups arrived with wilted butter lettuce over piled with tiny chunks of ground pork that tasted of mystery meat. The soggy lettuce "cup" tore at any attempt to pick it up. But no big deal about the mess because I couldn't eat it - the first bite tasted that bad. I am pissed. Kid, go make more canned corn for your mama. The website is false advertising, and that's putting it mildly. The place is a joke.

I had been here a couple of times when they opened and swore I would never go back....... I picked up a buddy who flew in and the first thing out of his mouth was that he was starving because they didn't feed him on the flight and because of delays he sat on the tarmac for several hours and was ready to eat my left over sunflower seeds in my pocket folds. He said, good there is a restaurant here. I said, no, let's get to the car and in about 10 minutes we will get you some decent food. No, he said nothing could be that bad, at least let me grab a burger. Ok......but I warned you. We were immediately seated by staff and then had two menus tossed on the table. I ordered a drink and so did he. The bar wasn't that busy but I guess the Martini and Manhattan do take 10 minutes to make....... He ordered the burger and was asked how he wanted it. Medium-rare was his answer, I ordered just a plate of fries since I had lunch a few hours before. 25 minutes later his cheeseburger arrived, and so did my fries. He took two bites and started looking for the server. None to be found. Must have been break time, after sitting there for another 5 minutes finally he got the attention and described his medium rare burger, showing them that it was devoid of any moisture or red color, obviously a well done, which was forgotten on the grill for a few more minutes than should have been. "Oh, we can make you another one" since we had already invested 25 minutes in that one, he opted out of another disappointment. My fries were fantastic for ones that you rip an freezer bag and toss in the frier, only a little cold and tasteless. So, to make this story end, nothing much has changed in the years, and I will renew my promise not to come here, and question how so many people can have 5 star meals here, especially when you see a preponderance of 1 and 2 star reviews. Must me "off days"........

Been here a few times over the recent years and just had lunch here again today. Pretty cool place. Suffice it to say, I've had my share of airport food, and this is really one of the higher echelon places... in the country. Years ago, it used to be a standard lunch/dinner spot that barely beat out Denny's for quality. Around 2006 (I think), it came under new ownership and went through a total makeover. The result was this steakhouse/sushi bar. The steak here is pretty good, though not a real chop house for super-premium cuts. But the dishes they put together are very tasty and have the distinct air of made-from-scratch and not from-a-can about them. And they do this at a fair price which is appreciated by anyone familiar with the standard "airport mark up". I had the club sandwich at lunch today and it was very nice on a couple of different levels: 1 being that they don't do that double layer with an extra piece of bread which tends to make consumption a challenging and messy affair. 2 is that all of the ingredients had that note of quality about them, like the deli meats having come from an actual deli and the bacon being thick cut. Finally, the ambiance is pretty fantastic, especially if you happen to like aviation. The interior is handsomely decorated and there is a decent view of the tarmac. The patio is fantastic on warm days. If you know a pilot or just happen to be near the Santa Rosa airport, drop in and give this place a try. Well worth it.

I take full responsibility for this horrible mistake of eating at the Airport.... and to make matters worse what in the H E Double Toothpicks was I thinking to order Sushi of all things..... Its been about 8 hours since that fateful meal and memory is still lingering in my tummy... Think Robyne.... Think.....I mean would I go to a Sushi Rest and expect to get an A1 hamburger... It will be months before I can ever entertain the thought of having sushi again..... ..... and to make matters worse the food wasn't the only bad thing. The service was slow and inconsistent. We waited 15 mins before anyone even approached us for a drink order.... another 15 mins before I received my Ice Tea.....10 more before they took our food order...... 20 mins later my son's food arrives, but nada for me.... asked where it was and there was some mix up. My son being a gentleman wouldn't start to eat until my order arrived 10 mins mine arrived without so much of an apology. Like I said at the start it was my fault for even stepping foot into this place. The whole issue could of been corrected if after the end they offered to apologize, perhaps buy us a drink, have the manager come over to apologize..... simple random acts of kindness can go so far in changing a bad opinion to a good one
(1)Lindy B.
I don't know about other menu items but LindySez - step away from the sushi!

The Crunch n Munch roll is simply the best!

this place wasn't even worth a star !! have never been treated so rudely by any fake boobed waitress in my life . waited forever to get an order taken never got water I could go on and on but I wont .. in the end told our waitress how badly we were treated and was told " well I have seen you here before and im sure you were treated better than " and "we had better service than the other table " What the hell !! I told her the lady next to us had been waiting forever as well and she said "I know" so lets get this a straight she knew we had shitty service,, she knew the lady was waiting .. and she knew others were getting shitty service ..bottom line we were a party of 4 adults 2 toddlers so tip was included due to party of 6 .. she knew she was getting a tip.. Never again !!

Restaurant looked great, we popped in before a flight to dine here. We had to seat ourselves, waited 20 minutes and weren't greeted or served. I went inside and the waitress said we would have to wait. We ordered at the bar from the bar tender, who was very nice. Unfortunately when our orders came out they were wrong and the server didn't offer any resolution. No one asked if we wanted more drinks (guess they aren't too concerned about sales and customer service). Needless to say, we had to go in and ask for the bill. Next time we fly out of here we'll skip this place. I recommend a pass on this place- a vending machine has better service.
(1)Jim S.
Reading the other reviews it seems that this place is kind of inconsistant. Had lunch here while waiting for a flight on a Fri afternoon. There was only one waitress working and the place was busy, so the bartender was helping take orders. Our order got messed up so we received food we didn't order. They did finally bring out the correct food but it took a bit. Once our food did arrive it was not good at all.....actually it was kind of awful. I'd never go back again.
(2)Jim T.
Do NOT order a Bloody Mary but the Shushi is good as are the fried Calimari.
(3)John L.
Some of the best Airport food you can get I had the burger it was great and the staff is very nice get it a try the only reason it didn't get five stars is it is a little pricey
(4)Noelle V.
Awesome! The owner a very generous man! Give his time to the kids in the community coaching football and opens his entire restaurant to the team! I am choosing to have my sones coming home from deployment party here. The owner is hosting this dinner for my son and is generous not to charge me a banquet fee. I love the atmosphere here. Feel at home since my son is an airman in the Navy! I can't wait for his party! He is even allowing us a DJ! I will write more and share pics later!!!! Give it a chance , the ambiance is great!

Sky Lounge is a diamond hidden in Transportation Rough. Located at the Charles M. Schultz (think, Snoopy, Woodstock, and Chuck) Sonoma County Airport, this place is not your typical lame, stale, and overpriced airport restaurant. Quite the opposite actually. Along with the dark-wood indoor decor and a huge outdoor patio comes a spread of steaks, salads, sammies, sushi, and killer fish n' chips. It's a great spot for entertaining clients or for just a quiet spot to watch airplanes take off ... which reminds me - it's right next to the runways -- so I subtracted a star because the 1 occasion where I had exhaust in my face wasn't awesome, but hey, what can you expect when you are dining outside at an airport??? Big hits include the steaks, Fish n chips, and an incredible dish of Mac n' Cheese - both for kids and adults. I had a fantastic cobb salad with a ton of high maintenance substitutions that the waitress totally respected, followed by super fresh French Press coffee with an order of the strudel a la mode. Everything was fresh and of great quality, and because of the relaxing outdoor atmosphere, my 1 hour business meeting turned into a really fun lunch! I left relaxed and happy.
(4)Jon M.
The sushi and staff are top notch, recommend to anyone. Were regulars!!!
(5)Sarah M.
Horrible. I don't know what else to say except the experience there was absolutely horrible. We just went for drinks and app's before catching a movie. Drinks were ok but the apps were awful. One example: the cheese plate. This is Sonoma County. Between Sonoma and Marin, we have some of the best artisanal cheese in the country. Considering this, I was surprised that the cheese plate contained cubes of colby jack, cheddar and some of the most awful, rubbery brie I've ever tasted. Oh- and a couple apple slices. But- the worst part: the service. Not only was it bad, but we had this waitress that had some serious hygiene issues. First, I saw her sneeze and then wipe her hand on her apron. Then- she coughed and (of course) didn't cover her mouth. I thought this was bad until I saw her pick her nose!!!! Absolutely disgusting. If you must go there, avoid the waitress with the butterfly tattoo on her shoulder. Don't remember her name, but she was the one we had. Gross!!!
(1)Jeff W.
Best airport stop - sushi was actually awesome, recommend the Bodega Roll. The Patron Margarita for $7 was a better deal than anywhere! The waitstaff are hot and the service top notch! Highly recommended!
(5)Jason H.
Appetizers and sushi were very good. The soup was not quite hot enough. Everything was tasty. Service was very good, as well. All in all, a good find for an airport location. If one was flying in or out of the Charles Schulz Airport, you would not be the least bit disappointed. I wouldn't say that anything was a bargain, but we will return regardless.
(4)Scarlett D.
I could make a better sandwich at home. Waitress were not properly dressed and they talked to each other more than to the patrons. I think that there are too many half way decent places to eat close to the airport that I will never go there again. I prefer Denny's to this place. At least I don't get ignored at Denny's and I'm not forced to look at my servers boobs.
(1)Clarke J.
I love airplanes. I love good food. I love a setting that combines both, such as Jonseys at Napa, etc. Having had a decent breakfast with a motorcycles buddy here a few months back, I thought I'd bring the wife here the next time we were in the Santa Rosa area. Mistake. I guess that snottiness is an acquired skill, one that the manager has perfected. Treating reasonable customers poorly seems to be his style. My wife had the daily special, fish and chips. She also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. Both were off by quite a bit. The clam chowder was chewy, a can of progresso or Safeway Select soups would have been much better. Then, her fish fillets were a weird combination of wet AND greasy. Just odd. I ordered the steak sandwich with fries, and a milk. The sliced beef on the sandwich was without question the toughest, meanest, cheapest cuts of meat I've had in a decade. Tons of grissle and fat. Every single piece had grissle. Every bite I had to pull tendons or something out of my mouth. Yeecchh. The bun was okay, the onions okay, the sauce okay, the meat terrible. The only upside to the meal was the herbed french fries, which adorned my wife's fish and chips and my steak sandwich. Normally I let a lot of things go, but the meat was so poor, I had to politely say something to the waitress. She (Leah) said she'd go talk to the manager. Came back to the table, and without a word, put down the bill. No comment. No apology, no offer to an adjustment, nothing. So, we paid, and gave her an appropriate tip. Forty-two bucks plus a tip. What the manger of this place will learn, is to treat people better, and take constructive criticism well, and not be a punk. He could at least buy his meat at Costco or Safeway, not the meat grinder packing house he's getting it from now. So, I won't be back, my buddies won't be back, and the Sky Lounge loses. My friends and I collectively eat out a lot, and we won't be back. Sorry, you loose!
(1)Melody M.
After having a great dinner there, we decided to try it for lunch. We shared the Meatloaf and Pulled Pork sandwiches. The meatloaf sandwich was amazing. The pulled pork was good too, but I love me some meatloaf. The fries? fabulous! You know we'll be going again!
(4)Mike W.
Bullet points: * Chef gone at lunch time? * 1 star for good clam chowder * 1 star for runway view The last time I traveled, I flew in and out of the Santa Rosa airport. I saw the Skylounge restaurant, and was intrigued. It looked much better than what you'd typically expect at an airport. My wife teaches weekend classes at the county education office, right next to the airport. So I dropped her off, and went for lunch. I arrived at noon. You'd think that would be a perfect time to eat, but I was advised that the chef that does the sushi and raw food left because it was slow. I really had my heart set on sushi, and what they had on the menu looked interesting. I ended up with a bowl of clam chowder and a salad. The salad and the clam chowder was pretty good, but I left unsatisfied and disappointed. What can I say? I probably won't go back, fearing that the food I want won't be available...
(2)Aristide F.
Anytime I have a business lunch meeting in the area I choose this place. It's easy to find, the food is good, and it comes out fast. The Owner and staff are awesome as well. The have some cool boutique local wines on their list that I appreciated as well. It's nice to see a restaurant support the small local wine producers in the area.
(5)K F.
Only thing good about this restaurant is the view. The waitress mixed up our order. She never came back to the table after bringing our food to us. We had the BLT and the Grilled Chicken sandwiches. We give them a 2 out of 5. After we finished eating we waited about 20 minutes before i got up and found a waitress to get refills of our drinks and a desert menu. Had the Berry Crisp with ice cream and was disappointed. Next time if there is one it will only be for drinks and the view!!!!!
(1)Jason P.
I have been there a couple times for breakfast when we fly in to Santa Rosa. The food has always been good. The service seems to lack a little. If you are in a hurry then don't stop, but if you have the time then it is worth the wait.
(3)deb j.
I was really looking forward to eating here (did I just say that...looking forward to eating at the airport?!) and I wasn't disappointed. They made an excellent Bombay Sapphire and tonic and I had one of the best BLT's I've had in years. Thick bacon and the sauce (mayo + something) was incredible! The service was very responsive and friendly, albeit on about 15 peeps in the place. Nevertheless, I'd definitely visit again if I find myself at the Sonoma airport.
(5)Shannon M.
I completely disagree with prior reviews for the Sky Lounge. This is a great weekday lunch or Sunday afternoon spot to go have a beer and watch games on TV and watch flights arriving/departing from the Sonoma County Airport. I've had their salads, cheeseburger, and club sandwich- all were great. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and the owner, Jim Goff, is a great guy. He makes sure to treat all of his patrons with extra attention. There is free Sonic.net wi-fi throughout the restaurant. Nice sunny atmosphere from the large windows that look out onto the runway. If the weather is nice, enjoy your meal outside and kick back and relax. Don't let the other reviews fool you- try it for yourself.
(5)N B.
Went here to watch the planes while eating dinner. The service was slow although there were not many patrons. My order was messed up once, and then the correct order did not get to me until 20 minutes later. They did box it up for me. They were training a new waitress, but I think the service could have been better. I tried part of a tuna melt. It was average. I ordered the sushi and it was also just ok. Nothing special. The sushi roll cost $13 bucks and the Tuna melt cost $12 I think. Overall I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not terrible.
(2)Sandy A.
We had lunch prior to our flight and it was really good. I had the crab cakes, my husband the Mac n Cheese. But best of all was the Bloody Marys!!! Best EVER!!!!
(5)Gregory F.
Went there for dinner. The food was decent. The service was a little slow, but it had good atmosphere and it was nice to sit and watch the airplanes take off.
(3)Grover G.
I wish I had read the reviews prior to eating at the Skylounge restaurant and raw bar because it was absolutely horrible. I probably should've known better but we ordered miso soup, which was sweet (yuck) and a sushi roll. Can't remember exactly which roll we ordered but I do remember it smelled very fishy, which should never be the case for any type of sushi and the rice was old and overall disgusting. Needless to say, we did not finish any of it. I am very sorry to say it was not a good experience.
(1)John K.
Ate dinner here despite the bad reviews and was very impressed. The place was clean and the service was great. Really enjoyed seeing the planes take off and land. There was a really nice outdoor area if the weather was nice. I would not pass this place up it is worth the trip to the airport.
(5)Lynne A.
Had a 4 hour wait at the airport to fly back to Los Angeles after a job interview here. I decided to eat an early dinner while waiting. I ordered the club sandwich. It was decent, but nothing special. Since I was sitting outside enjoying the beautiful day for hours, I later decided to order dessert. I asked Jamie y waitress what he reccomended. She said the berry cobbler. This was so damn good, and worth every calorie, with vanilla ice creak on top. It was served hot too. Service was a bit slow, but maybe they were busy inside, so i cut them some slack. Because of Jamie being so eat and the cobbler so good this place gets 4 stars. I would come again, just order something better.
(4)James J.
I visited here when i did cross country flight. They have sushi bar so me and my instructor ordered bento. We just waited almost 20min after order, we can't believe that plate. Very small pieces chicken teriyaki, also very small scoop rice with wakame salad. That price was $13.95. I dont think that is over price. If i getting my lunch on other japanese restrauant i think i can getting more good portion even if i get lunch on sf.
(1)Erin B.
The food is good for being airport food but I always always encounter a super rude server every time I eat there. Love having this awesome cute little airport so close to my house it definitely takes a lot of the hassle out of airport trips. On occasion, we will stop in for a drink and some food after we've picked up our party. The last time I was in I had been running around all day and after picking up a rental car from the airport enterprise, I was starving. It was just baby and I and the meal took forever. I was greeted right away but it took forever for my server to come over to to say hi and take my order. When my meal was done. We waited until it was clear to the whole restaurant that he was ready to go. I even heard another server say to my server that I was ready. She said she knew as she proceeded to finish her story to yet another server. So yeah, they have a monopoly on the location so yes, I will be back.
(2)Britt B.
Can't speak for the food because I didn't have any, but the local beer I had was delicious. Hanging out in the sun on the patio up 'til 30 minutes prior to our flight was a perfect way to wrap up the weekend. We had picked up sandwiches not knowing that there was a restaurant here on airport campus, but the manager/owner (?) and server were more than gracious to let us take a seat anyway. From what I saw on other patron's plates, the fare looks pretty good! I will definitely recommend and return!
(5)Jeanine M.
Amazing Chinese Chicken Salad on special. Great view of planes landing and great selection of beer on tap. This is not "airport" food.
(5)Keith F.
Very small airport. The only place to eat was hot inside. The staff was very nice.
(3)Little Lord F.
Meh, don't bother. Food ok, service poor. Basic burgers n fries shouldn't be $15. Order took forever to come out, lunch not busy. Lots of better choices close by but if you're trapped at So Co airport its your only option. Too bad. Won't go back.

I had a couple of hour wait for my plane today and happened into Sky Lounge for a comfy place to pass the time. Thomas was so welcoming, helpful, and attentive! Having just spent 5 days at Calistoga Ranch I'm coming fresh from a high quality service environment and felt equally well taken care of at this cute little spot. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on Thomas' recommendation. He said people come here just for the burgers because the meat is local and high quality. I added grilled onions and avocado to the burger and chose the house salad. I usually order bacon on my burger to add luster to a potentially tasteless patty. However, the burger was so rich and flavorful I did not need the bacon. Meat was cooked exactly to my specifications. All in all a highly pleasurable meal. If you're hankering for a quality burger this place is a winner in my book. You can also get your Snoopy fix while you're here.

I stick with my three stars. Have been back several times since November. Good remains average. Wait staff is friendly, very casual atmosphere. The fries are excellent, the sushi ok. Sandwiches are hit and miss: the steak sandwich was meager but the BLT was very good. Sitting outside is nice when planes are taking off and landing but gets very loud (as expected) when they pull up to the gate which is 50 yards from your table.

I've eaten here twice, both times as a fly-in destination. Each time it was excellent. The bartender is a pilot, which makes perfect sense in a place that is a fly-in destination. Wanting breakfast, which we missed by 30 minutes, I order the pulled pork sandwich, which was my choice on my first visit. This gave me a chance to compare the consistency of each sandwich. Both were great! The bread, so thin and crispy, the pork succulent and the sauce yummy. My wife and daughter each had grilled sandwiches, which they really enjoyed. The best part of the meal? The French fries. So crispy, served nice and hot, golden brown. Not a single leftover fry out of the three lunch orders. Yum! The only ding- the place is very expensive, which each sandwich platter averaging $15 each. Considering it cost is $125 in aviation gas to get there and back, who cares. GET IN HERE!

About a week ago I arrived at the airport an hour ahead of time, and decided to grab dinner. I ordered a beer and the meatloaf, which came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The food tasted ok, but that was not the end of the story. Two hours later, as my plane was nearing Los Angeles, my stomach began to alert me to the fact that all was not well. I will spare you the gory details, but suffice it to say, I had to throw away a pair of pants and a pair of socks. One of the worst travel experiences one can imagine. All I had eaten that day was some eggs in the morning at my home, so I have to believe the food I ate at the Sky Lounge was responsible. I contacted the restaurant twice, and spoke to the bartender who served me, and the manager the next day, but they did not accept any responsibility. Avoid the meatloaf!

Wouldn't order sushi from here again. But i do like their fries, and they give a pretty big corn dog for the kids meal. Nothing fancy, just foster farms. But fresh cut fries, good onion rings, a tasty tri tip w/ au jus. The homemade clam chowder was good but could have used a lot more clams. When we were here within the past 2 weeks, the refrigeration unit for the sushi was buzzing so loudly we were *this* close to leaving. But we asked the waitress to turn up the music. That helped, but only slightly. And the music... classic rock. Really? I have nothing against it, but listening to psychedelic guitar riffs while eating lunch in a place that isn't, say, Magnolia on Haight St, is just a little weird. They need to fix their fridge issue before I'll ever go back. They have consistently had very friendly service.

One of the better airport lounges I've been in, and, it's safe/tragic to say that I've been in many! Great selection of beers, spirits and wine, and super friendly/efficient service. Both the bartender and the server knew exactly when the next flight would board and kept the drinks and food coming accordingly. The patio area was amazing as well: I guess the child in me (or the several children in me) never tires of seeing planes take off and land. At least, I think they were taking off and landing, although given the number of shots I had, one can never be too certain. The prices seemed very, very reasonable. I concur with the other reviewers who thought that maybe the sushi wasn't that great, but everything else was top-notch.

Ordered a bacon wrapped meatloaf sandwich. I got a rectangular hamburger--no bacon. When I told the wait staff I ordered a meatloaf, they brought out 3 strips of bacon. When I told the manager this wasn't meatloaf, he just said they must have ran out. So mad I lost my appetite and sent it all back. Lame.

I waited a bit before I wrote this because when I left this place I was pretty angry. I had been here one time before and it was decent. First of all this is in the Sonoma County Airport and the only place there to eat or get a drink before or after a flight. I really don't know why an airport restaurant would do sushi first of all cause I doubt any locals would go there for it with real sushi restaurants in the area. That being said it wasn't the best sushi or the worst I have had. The bartender seemed nice but I think was told to not put much if any alcohol into the drinks, so I would go with beer or wine since you can't mess with those. As for the rest of the staff I think they are comfortable and do what they are asked which isn't much. I think this place needs a manager with standards and it would improve. The staff is there and if they had tasks to do on a slow day they wouldn't be hanging out talking with each other or at least not on the floor with customers nearby. I'm sure I will be back since I'm from Sonoma County and it's easier than SF. Won't get sushi most likely and hope they improve with service.

Came here with my Mom and Aunt after she flew in early one morning. They had wine ( I guess it was 5 o'clock somewhere...), two croissants and a cup of coffee. Honestly, everything was quite average. The croissants tasted from Costco. The coffee was decent. The average was a bit rude/over friendly. Over friendly when we were having conversations. Rude as in, not professional. Talking to staff members right in front of us about unprofessional subject matter. Didn't bother me much, but I could see it bothering some. The ambience in here is nice on warm weather days. It's fun to watch the plans come in and have decent food. Not shabby!

Great spot for a restaurant! I had dined here three times, and sat in the patio area once. the sushi was descent, but smaller in portions than I'm used to. The cheeseburger was actually pretty good, and will probably get it again next time. Service is pretty good, and the servers are very accommodating, and even reminded the customers when the flight will soon be boarding. If it is not too hot outside, I recommend sitting out in the patio. Enjoy the breeze and watch the various propeller airplanes land and take off at this little airport.

Nice bar in the center of the casino. The bar has many TVs and nice service for the patrons of the casino. The place has nice chairs and sofas for seating for lounging. The decorations and lighting is nice throughout the place.

The Classic Cobb salad. It's hard to mess up, I've seen some restaurants do it. A good place to look first in a Cobb salad to see where things are going is the egg. Regularly it's over done and green. This represents a complete lack of care. Frequently the egg is fine and you can look forward to a fine salad. It is rare ,however, when the egg shows an exceptional level of attention . It's rare when you look at an egg on a Cobb salad and know that the rest of your day is going to be better because of it. It's rare when the inside of the yolk is still moist enough to show but done enough to hold it's shape. Delicious even before the first bite. I don't know who was in the kitchen at lunch today but thank you.

First let me say, I'm happy that I ordered a BLT because it is pretty hard to fuck that up. The amount of french fries they give you is ridiculous- I'm not looking for a mountain of them but more than 15 would be nice given that I am spending $12 on a fucking BLT. The steak sandwich my man got looked horrid, especially given that it was $14. All that said the Onion rings aren't bad. The worst part of the experience is: (1) the service. The bartender had an attitude from the beginning (apparently he is one of those dudes that thinks tattoos give him the right to act like a hardened Navy Seal. Douche. (2) the sushi that someone ordered came from somewhere.....just not the CLOSED, UNMANNED sushi bar. Fucking gross.

Stopped in a couple of days ago for a $100 hamburger and was pleasantly surprised by the Sky Lounge! The sushi was excellent with a wide selection of rolls and no complaints from the non-sushi eaters. Excellent wine selection. It was a beautiful day so we ate out on the deck - recommended if the weather's nice, all in all a very cool place to eat sushi. If you are an aviation fan & sushi lover, you will like-I loved it !

We are locals that have went here many times over the years just for the burgers. The place has changed even though there were very few customers the service was poor. The burger I always get was over cooked on a burnt bun, the side salad which was great over the last five years had changed with mostly leafs and lacked the walnuts and chunk of cheese on it with blue cheese dressing that had no taste and was watery. Like I said I have been there several times, all of the waitresses and bartender were changed and the food was not worth the money or trip and it use to be my favorite place for a pricey but good burger...no more....

Sushi is not so good. Everything else is amazing.

Service slow even when they aren't busy. Fun atmosphere. Burger was above average. The reviewers who said their burgers are the best around haven't been to Mike's at the Crossroads in Cotati. Pilots looking for a $100 burger would be better off going to Petaluma's 29er Diner. Good happy hour beers. Fish tacos special had the suggestion of fish in them but were good anyway (just not that much fish). Fries good. You are definitely going to see some planes.

Good solid airport bar and restaurant. I like their burgers and believe it or not the sushi is quite tasty as well. Friendly fast service. Great place to refuel for that $100 Hamburger while flying out for fun.

Been here twice this week and strictly for the view and tall boy 23 oz's of Racer IPA. I've heard the food isn't anything to brag about, sushi is pretty okay and I have ordered their fat, steak cut fries which are pretty good with beer. Sushi at an airport and while the sushi bar looks legit, I really am not sure I'd order it. I wonder if they ever do showcases of the sushi chefs talents, if so, I might be inclined to try their stuff. The best part of this bar experience is sitting out in the beer garden under the tree looking out onto the airfield. If your lucky or you checked flight schedules you might be there to catch a planes arrival or take off. Both of which are pretty fucking awesome. Most airports do NOT allow patrons to sit close or near to the airfield. The other day it was a busy afternoon and three small kids with families had their noses to the fence watching a landing. Almost sunset, sun shining in your eyes and the wind kicking up from a landing just a few hundred feet out. You watch as a limited crew aids the plane as it pulls in to park. Pretty cool shit. This airport offers flights to L.A, Vegas and a few other spots, so you can come across some cuties in here. Parking is in the lot for the airport and there is no charge for those that are here for up to 2 hours! After that the fees for parking are grossly low, try a dollar when you are here that third hour. Two hours is more than enough time to take in the sights and down your second 23 oz-er.

Came here for lunch because its close to work... $60 for lunch, WTF! 3 sandwiches & 3 sodas... Trippin! I asked for my Chicken Sandwich to be HOT since its served cold & it came out semi-warm. The fries had been sitting for a while since they were limp, not crunchy. The service was good, but the food was average. I will not be back here... I rather go to Quiznos for a chicken sandwich.

Sky Lounge has by far the best airport food anywhere. And frankly, their burgers are some of the best out there too! Staff very helpful and friendly. We had been looking forward to having a burger there on our last two Santa Rosa trips. We arrived at the airport at 9:30am, lunch doesn't start till 10am. They were extremely accommodating and made our burgers anyway. Don't let the fact that they are in an airport keep you from checking them out even when you don't have a flight to catch. We'll be back!

5/8/2012 Attempted to have a quick/small meal here and was so put off by the initial service that I walked out without ordering. The place was not very busy, and the staff was very uninterested in any customer service at all. There's nothing like asking for a menu and being ignored, but the worst part was asking if I could get something small to go and being given a dirty look by the waitress (without an answer). I waited 10 minutes and still nothing. The waitstaff was definitely aware that I was there and needed service, and nothing was ever done. I am told this is a pilot owned restaurant, so the expectation is high for quality food & service at the airport. It appears that owner/management involvement here is non-existant. Won't be back, and happy to spread the word about my bad experience. Absolutely unacceptable.

The staff is super friendly. For airport food, I think the prices are reasonable (for food)....$10 for a glass of wine in WINE COUNTRY...is a little pricey. The claim to be a sushi bar so I insisted on trying the sushi. The waiter told us it was fresh and brought in daily. I think it was fresh but just not very good. Plus, pretty sure it upset my stomach. My husband and father in law got burgers and cleaned their plates. My mother in law got the meat loaf sandwich and said was pretty good. Loved the patio though and the staff insisted that we sit there until our flight was ready to board. They even came and let us know that it would be a good time to start heading that way. Great service!

I eat here probably once a week and love it. Great service and great food. I Recommend the fire salmon roll, and steak sandwich. Salads are great too. I've never been disappointed which is surprising for restaurant at an airport. It's not your typical airport experience. They have done it right.

We were flying out at 1:40pm so I was hoping to grab some lunch there with my boyfriend because I knew we probably wouldn't eat dinner until late. It was a busy Thursday afternoon at the Sky Lounge, a beautiful day so we grabbed the last available table outside...we were debating between a burger or sushi - because we love sushi! We decided to go with the sushi, it took probably 15-20 minutes to get our order, it was good, but didn't taste as fresh as other sushi places we've been to in Santa Rosa. The service was a little slow as well...next time we'll probably stick with a burger.

Best buger anywhere. Thick premium beef cooked just right on a fresh bakery bun. Patio service or indoor overlooking the airport terminal and runways. Many other yummy menu selections. Good service.

This was NOT a good dining experience. I don't like to write bad reviews but my experience was pretty bad from start to finish- they were out of things on the menu, the food took forever, the manager gave us a hard time about a groupon and it was generally unpleasant. The poor sever was actually very nice and kept apologizing but I won't return.

They were swamped with only a few people working the restaurant. Staff was very friendly. Extremely fast. Even updated people on flight delays. Would arrive here pre flight early to enjoy a drink and the lettuce wraps again.
